Sunrise and sunset in Fernando de Noronha: the best spots
By Danilo Dirê · Updated 2026 · 4 min read

In Noronha, sunrise and sunset are shows in their own right — a whole extra piece of the trip.
The tip from someone who lives on the island is simple: watch each day from a different spot — every place has its own magic. Here are the best places to watch the sun rise and set on the island.
Late afternoon
Sunset (Mar de Dentro side)
The sun sets on the Mar de Dentro side. You can watch from the sand, from a restaurant with a view or — the most special way — from the sea.

From the beaches
The Mar de Dentro beaches are perfect for the end of the day: Cacimba do Padre, Bode, Boldró, Conceição and Porto — each with a different angle on the setting sun.
From restaurants and bars with a view
To pair sunset with dinner, the classics are Mirante do Boldró, Bar do Meio and Mergulhão (at the Port).
From the sea (the most special)
Watching the sun set out at sea is unforgettable — on the VIP Sunset Boat (with a barbecue on board) or on a Private Speedboat, just for your group.
Sunrise
Watching the sun rise
It's worth waking up early at least one day — sunrise in Noronha can be as beautiful as sunset, and much quieter. The best spots are Capelinha, Museu dos Tubarões and Air France (in the Port area). And there's an even more special way to see the dawn: taking the Hawaiian Canoe at sunrise, paddling in the silence of the sea.
Tips
Tips so you don't miss it
- Arrive early at the busier spots (Boldró and Mergulhão fill up).
- Bring your camera and enjoy the golden light — the "golden hour" before sunset is the best time for photos.
- Combine the day's plan with sunset: after a tour, pick a different viewpoint or beach to end the day.
