Morro de Fora Natural Pool: one of Noronha's most beautiful spots
By Danilo Dirê · Updated 2026 · 5 min read

Morro de Fora is the natural pool currently open in Fernando de Noronha's Natural Pools Circuit — the only one of the three (Buraco do Galego and Lasca da Véia are both closed by ICMBio since November 2025). Located between Praia da Conceição and Praia do Meio, it sits on the inner sea (Mar de Dentro) side of the island and can be reached on foot or by swimming, depending on sea conditions.
The experience
Two pools, one extraordinary setting
Arriving at Morro de Fora, the first pool appears immediately and captivates with its colour and contrast against the volcanic rock. But it's the second pool, just a few steps further, that is the main event — deep enough to swim and dive in, crystal clear, with angles for photography that look almost unreal.
When to go
Low tide is essential
The visit must be timed to low tide — when the sea pulls back and reveals the pools. At high tide the pools are covered by water and the visit is not possible. EmNoronha always schedules visits based on the tide table for that specific day.
Getting there
On foot or by swimming
On foot via the trail
Wear closed shoes with grip. Carry belongings in a backpack and keep your hands free — the trail involves scrambling over rocks. Bring water.
By swimming
Possible depending on sea conditions on the day. A good waterproof case for your phone is essential if going by water.
