Best Beaches in Fernando de Noronha: Complete Guide

Fernando de Noronha has some of the most stunning beaches in the world — but not all of them are accessible at all times, and each one has its own personality. This guide covers the main beaches, what makes them special, and the practical details you need before you visit.

Baía do Sancho has been elected the best beach in the world by TripAdvisor's Travelers' Choice more than once. It sits inside the National Marine Park and is accessible via a staircase trail or by boat. The water is crystal clear with excellent visibility for snorkeling. An ICMBio entrance ticket is required (R$192 for Brazilians, R$384 for foreigners).

Baía dos Porcos is the beach right next to Sancho, separated by a rock formation you can walk across at low tide. The view from here — with the Morro Dois Irmãos rising in the background — is the postcard image of Fernando de Noronha. Access is controlled by ICMBio and limited to a set number of visitors at a time.

Cacimba do Padre faces the open ocean and receives the biggest swells of the island between November and March. It's also the beach where the Hang Loose Pro Contest is held each year. Outside swell season, the beach is calm and ideal for swimming. The view of Morro Dois Irmãos from here is one of the most famous in Brazil.

Praia do Leão is the longest beach in Fernando de Noronha and one of the main sea turtle nesting areas on the island. Swimming is not always allowed depending on conditions and conservation regulations. The beach is included in the Ilha Tour route.

Baía do Sueste is a contemplation-only beach — you don't go into the water, for safety. It hosts the only mangrove on an oceanic island in the South Atlantic and is a feeding area for turtles, which can be spotted from the shore. Located inside the National Marine Park (ICMBio ticket required).
